Young People’s Creative Workshop Opportunities in Butetown
Are you interested in exploring your creativity? We are offering two FREE workshop programmes in Butetown that bring together music and video as a means of expression.
Music Theatre Wales is re-imagining opera by inviting creatives from all backgrounds to make it their own
We’ve been working with communities in Butetown and Grangetown over the past two years, creating and sharing new opera at Loudoun Square and Grange Pavilion, including The Jollof House Party Opera and The Trial of Dhegdheer.
This workshop is one of two that build on that work, creating new opportunities for young people locally.
All sessions are FREE and all meals will be provided.

A chance to create a Digital Opera combining storytelling, videography and music. The project brings together young neurodivergent, autistic, and/or learning disabled people alongside neurotypical participants to explore new skills, develop ideas and create original work, supported by professional creative and welfare teams. A partnership project with Hijinx.
Taster sessions will take place across South Cardiff from September to December 2026. Creative Residencies will take place in Spring and Summer 2027.
Find out more here, sign up using the form below, or email abena@musictheatre.wales if you’d like to discuss the opportunity further.
