Welsh conductor Iwan Davies is Artistic Director of Aberystwyth Musicfest, one of Wales’s leading music festivals. At the Salzburger Landestheater he conducted repertoire ranging from Rossini to Philip Glass. For the Buxton International Festival, where he is Head of Music, he has conducted Donizetti, Bizet and Ivor Novello. With English Touring Opera, he conducted La bohème and The Golden Cockerel. A champion of Welsh music, he has commissioned and performed new works from numerous composers. He conducted both of Gareth Glyn’s operas, Wythnos yng Nghymru Fydd and Un Nos Ola Leuad, the latter with the orchestra of Welsh National Opera. He was recently awarded the Hilary Tann Award for outstanding achievement in music in Wales by the Welsh Music Guild.
